Sydney FC-s upcoming home games against the Wellington Phoenix and Newcastle Jets will be “pivotal for the club” according to Sky Blues midfielder Nick Carle as he looks ahead to Saturday-s match at Allianz Stadium.

“In the context of the season and the way we have started with nine points at the moment, these two games could really set up the league for us,” Carle said.

“In terms of getting with the front group and staying with them, I think these two home games will be pivotal for the club.”

The Sky Blues will be looking to continue their excellent home record in 2013 having won nine out of eleven games at Allianz Stadium.

Carle is also hopeful Sydney FC can produce the sort of football they played against the Heart on Friday night as well.

“I thought the first half last week was the best we have played all season,” Carle said.

“We kept the ball, moved it quick, we were dangerous and defended really well. In the first half they [Melbourne Heart] only had one chance.

“We said last week that we needed to win that away game and get confidence.

“If we can back it up now with Wellington at home it-s massive. These next two games could put us in really good stead.”

Wellington currently sits 9th in the table with a game in hand and lost this corresponding fixture last season 7-1, with Alessandro Del Piero scoring four.

However Carle feels that the Phoenix have been unlucky this season and is wary of what they can produce.

“Wellington is going to be a tough one because they haven-t got the results they-ve deserved this year,” Carle said.

“I think they-ve played some very good games; it just hasn-t clicked for them so we don-t want to let it start against us.

“For us it-s about going out and making sure we do the right things regardless of what the scenarios may or may not be.

“We have to make sure we get the three points.”
