Sydney FC’s Female Training Program (FTP) was created to help aspiring young players realise their dream of becoming the next Sam Kerr, Caitlin Foord or Cortnee Vine.
The pathway provides a link between grassroots football and the professional game, closing the gap on the current lack of opportunities for girls to transition from one to the other.
The Female Training Program is split into two separate training programs:
- FTP North Sydney FC’s training base, Sky Park
- FTP South Kareela Synthetic Sports Fields, Kareela
The program provides opportunities for selected talented players to train under the Sydney FC Youth philosophy.
It is run by coaches who work at the Sydney FC Academy, or have previously worked at the Academy, and follows a curriculum based on the skills taught at our Academy to maximize development of players of this age.
The program runs from Term 4 2023 through to the end of Term 3 2024 and is capped to a maximum number of players.
The 2023/24 program is open for applications from talented 11, 12, and 13-year-old girls who are currently part of GSAP or Development squads at their local association or NPL club.

What is the Sydney FC Development Squad?
To further bridge the gap between female grassroots football and professional football, Sydney FC will launch the Development Squad which underpins the Sydney FC A-League Women’s team.
This Development Squad will consist of girls aged 14-16 with players being identified through FTP and scouting at games.
During the A-League Women’s season, the squad will train twice per week at Sky Park under the guidance of Sydney FC’s technical staff, providing a well-rounded football education.
