Football South Coast Association and Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC today are proud to announce that every boy and girl aged 12 years and under registered to play with FSCA will be given a FREE ‘Junior Blues- membership to Sydney FC.
The membership gives the child free entry to every one of Sydney FC-s 15 home games of the upcoming 2010/11 A-League season.
Already over 1,000 eligible children from around New South Wales have become a Junior Blue.
Football South Coast Director Bill Drossos was on hand at the Sydney Football Stadium today to formalise an agreement with Sky Blues CEO Edwin Lugt.
The deal also includes a raft of other benefits for the round ball code in the area, such as FSCA coaching staff will also have the opportunity to exchange information with Sydney FC-s championship winning coaching staff, attend Sydney FC training and have promising young players- trial with the newly established Sydney FC Academy.
Further, the Sky Blues will engage with the thousands of junior registered players in the area through clinics, player appearances and match day experiences while also offering discounted ticketing and club merchandise.
“It is great to see Sydney FC engage with the children in the South Coast area. The agreement is really positive for us not only for the kids but we have an opportunity to learn from a strong set of coaches,” Drossos said.

“We are also pleased that Sydney FC has recognised the great talent and participation levels in girls and women’s football on the South Coast and we also hope to make further announcements soon on an agreement related specifically to elite women-s football.
“The agreement also includes the potential for Sydney FC A-League, W-League and/or National Youth League matches to be played in Wollongong.
“There is a very clear path for the kids to potentially follow all the way to the A-League, W-League and National Youth League and I can say that there are plenty of talented boys and girls in our area that have the potential to go on and do that.
“Football South Coast is delighted to be entering this partnership.”
Lugt said the Junior Blues membership has been extremely successful since its inception a few weeks ago and that the club has a clear focus on grassroots football throughout the state.
“Sydney FC has a clear and purposeful focus on the most important element of football in Australia – the thousands of kids who play our game every weekend,” Lugt said.
“This is a small way we can give them access to the best footballers in Australia, both men and women via our A-League and W-League teams, for them to learn from and aspire to be.
“Providing the kids with a free membership as well as undertaking clinics and appearances and promoting football in the South Coast area is extremely important to our club.”
The FSCA is affiliated with Football NSW (FNSW) and responsible for the administration and development of football within the local government areas around and including Wollongong, Bulli, Dapto, Illawarra and Picton.
