A potentially serious injury to star midfielder Luke Brattan has taken the gloss off Sydney FC’s 4-2 FFA Cup Round of 32 win against Sydney Olympic.
The Sky Blues midfielder came off the field just before half time having been involved in a three-way clash which saw fellow midfielder Patrick Yazbek collide with a Sydney Olympic player and go to the ground with a head injury.
Brattan went back on for a few seconds before the half time whistle blew but didn’t reappear for the second half – replaced by Paulo Retre.
Head Coach Steve Corica said in his post match press conference.
“We’ve got a few players injured and another one tonight with Brattan going down, so the squad is going to be tested.
“[Brattan] He might have done his ACL, he’s going to get a scan tomorrow [Thursday], so obviously it’s not very good if that’s the case and if he has that injury he’s out for the whole season.
“We’ll wait to see tomorrow and fingers crossed it’s not that bad but if it is, it’s very disappointing for him and the club.”
The results of Brattan’s scans on Thursday will be known in the next few days.
