As the Sydney FC players recharge their batteries for what is expected to be an incredibly tough pre season, we speak with the Young Guns who emerged as future mainstays of the Sky Blues outfit for 2013/14 and beyond. This week we speak to goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic.

There-s no doubt that Vedran Janjetovic took the long road to realise his A-League dream but after getting a chance midway through the season the 25-year-old showed he has what it takes as the last line in the Sky Blues defence during his 16 appearances.

Janjetovic is another member of the 2008/09 Sydney FC youth team but as Rhyan Grant, Kofi Danning, Matt Jurman, Brendan Gan, Antony Golec and Chris Payne progressed to the A-League with immediate effect, injury stalled Janjetovic-s rise.

Some dark days nursing an arm injury was followed by three seasons with Sydney United in the NSW Premier League, which enabled him to regain the form and confidence to snare an A-League contract in 2012/13.

Following his first season in the A-League, Janjetovic answered five key questions before heading off on holidays.

What was your highlight for the 2012/13 season?
The highlight was making my debut against Melbourne Heart and keeping a clean sheet.

Is there a lowlight?
Obviously the whole incident with the traffic and getting stuck and missing out on the game and missing out on the rest of the season

What was your personal highlight for the season?
Definitely. The games I played, I have had a lot more experience – on the park and off the park as well. I know I can get in there and mix it with the boys, which is the best thing I can take away with me.

What are you looking forward to about pre season?
At the moment (off season) I-m looking forward to not attacking the ball as much as we are. Once Pre season starts I-m looking forward to putting the gloves back on and getting out there with Spider (Zeljko Kalac) and doing what we do best.

Which team mate stood out for you in 2012/13?
I-d have to say definitely Rhyan, Rhyan Grant. He-s been exceptional all year for us. Obviously I-m pretty sure everyone has said ADP. He-s a legend so definitely those two.
