And just like the club-s domestic Memberships, the band of overseas Memberships is growing.
The Sky Blues now have 16 International Members in ten different countries around the World, including two who are heading into their 9th season with the club.
United States based Member David Hughes lives in Wilmington in Delaware has followed the club since day 1 but has been a Member for the last three.
“I just wanted to support the club from afar and boost the Membership,” said the 56 year old.
“I definitely feel more involved that way because I still get all of the communication as I would living in Australia.”
The Sky Blues now have Members in the USA, England, Scotland, Italy, China, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Papua New Guinea and Germany.
David used to live near Moore Park and spent most of his youth growing up in the area, so says he is “very attached” to the club.
“When Sydney FC were formed, they were my team,” he said.
“Being a Member, I still get all of the paraphernalia such as the lanyard and discounts that you guys send through and I really enjoy it.
“I think it-s fantastic because there was no point in paying for a full membership which I wasn-t going to be able to use, but I can still be part of the club and use it.”
The Explorer Membership is for non-resident Australians, costs $110 and includes entry to three home games, a benefit which Johnson & Johnson worker David was fortunate enough to use last season.
“I was in Sydney last summer so I saw Del Piero score those four against Wellington Phoenix which was absolutely fantastic.”
