Sydney FC can confirm that central defender Alex Grant has departed the club after reaching a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Grant joined the Sky Blues during the mid-season transfer window last year and made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.
The defender played an important role in Sydney FC’s run to the AFC Champions League Two Semi-Finals, debuting in the memorable 3-2 away win over Thai League 1 side Bangkok United.
The 32-year old netted his first goal in the dramatic quarter-final comeback against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors at Allianz Stadium, paving the way to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Grant said he has fond memories of playing with the club.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Sky Blue family and I’d like to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome from day one,” he said.
“I’ve met some fantastic people, shared the dressing room with a terrific group of team-mates and experienced the incredible support of our Members and fans, who have been outstanding throughout my time here.
“There are plenty of memories I’ll take with me, particularly our run to the AFC Champions League Two Semi-Finals. Those nights were special and something I’ll always remember.
“I’d like to wish everyone at Sydney FC every success for the future and I’ll always be grateful for my time at this great club.”

Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo thanked Grant for his contribution and professionalism.
“Alex has been an excellent professional throughout his time with Sydney FC and has made a valuable contribution,” he said.
“On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to thank Alex for everything he has given Sydney FC and we wish him and his family the best for the future.”
Grant played in 26 A-League games, three AFC Champions League Two matches and two Australia Cup ties.
