Sydney FC Members are in for a spectacular A-League Men’s 2026-27 season after the Sky Blues were handed one of the competition’s most exciting fixture lists, headlined by a mouth-watering opening night Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium.
In a blockbuster launch to the new A-League campaign, Sydney FC will host Western Sydney Wanderers under Friday night lights in what promises to be one of the fiercest Derby encounters in recent memory.
The clash will mark former Sydney FC Head Coach Ufuk Talay’s first A-League match in charge of the Wanderers following his cross-city switch, setting the stage for an emotionally charged evening and a white-hot atmosphere at Allianz Stadium.

The fixture list is packed with marquee occasions for Sydney FC Members, including two home Sydney Derbies, a home Big Blue against Melbourne Victory, two home Grand Final re-matches with Auckland FC, including a special ANZAC Weekend blockbuster on Friday 23 April—and a host of attractive school holiday fixtures across Christmas and New Year.
Macarthur FC visit Allianz Stadium on Monday 28 December before Brisbane Roar arrive on Saturday 2 January, while reigning Premiers Newcastle Jets come to Sydney on Saturday 16 January in a fixture that will see former Sky Blues Joe Lolley and Patrick Wood return to Allianz Stadium for the first time.
Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo said: “It’s an unbelievable draw and one that should have every Sydney FC Member and supporter counting down the days until the season begins.
“To open with a Friday night Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium is exactly the type of occasion football people love. The atmosphere is going to be incredible and it’s the perfect way to kick off what we believe can be a very special season.

“We want Allianz stadium to become a stadium where all Members can come watch a hard working team and a team that represents our fans.
“We’d love to see them filling it week after week because they are going to be hugely important to us.”
Captain Rhyan Grant expects emotions to be running high from the opening whistle.
“You couldn’t ask for a much bigger way to start the season than a Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium.
“Everyone knows how much these games mean to our Members and supporters and I think there’ll be an incredible outpouring of passion for that opening match.

“With Uffy coming back in charge of the Wanderers for his first A-League game, I’m sure our fans will let him know exactly what they think. There are a few players who have a score or two to settle as well.
“I’m sure that will light up the game, make it a white-hot atmosphere and turn it into a real thriller – just like Sydney Derbies always are.
“They’re the games you want to play in as a footballer and when you look at the whole fixture list there are massive occasions all through the season. It’s one we’re all really looking forward to.”
All 13 of Sydney FC’s home A-League matches will be played at Allianz Stadium throughout the season, giving Members and families a fantastic spread of Friday nights, weekend afternoons and evening kick-offs to enjoy at the club’s home.
The Sky Blues’ final match of the regular season could also prove decisive, with Wellington Phoenix visiting Allianz Stadium on Friday 7 May—exactly one month before the A-League Grand Final on 7 June.
Away from home, there is no shortage of headline fixtures either.
Sydney FC will travel to Melbourne Victory for an Australia Day Big Blue on Tuesday 26 January before backing it up just four days later with another huge rivalry clash away to Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday 30 January in a remarkable late-January double of Australian football’s biggest rivalries.
