Sydney FC stars Peter Triantis, Mitch Mallia and Matt Jurman have continued the Sky Blues pre-season work in the community by joining Earlwood Wanderers FC for a training session.
Sydney FC stars Peter Triantis, Mitch Mallia and Matt Jurman have continued the Sky Blues pre-season work in the community by joining Earlwood Wanderers FC for a training session.
The boys took part in ten team mini sessions with a variety of age groups between 7 and 16 years old.
All three Sydney FC players participated in a variety of skills, helping the young players fine tune their first touch before playing in some very competitive small sided games.
Peter, Mitchell and Matt blended in with the young Earlwood players and posed for team photos with each group alongside the managers and onlooking parents.
After completing ten sessions with the kids, the Sydney FC players headed to the Earlwood Clubhouse where they signed gear, boots and other memorabilia.
“This is what football is about, building a grassroots community that relates to the pathways kids may choose to follow,” said Earlwood’s Jim Tatsis.
“Whether its State League, A-League, Young and senior Socceroos for their next move in football, these visits are essential for allowing young aspirational players to dream of what might be.”
Striker Mitch Mallia was more than impressed by the standard and amount of children who took part.
“It’s great to be able to come and help out, and hopefully teach these kids a thing or two about the game,” he said.
“They are very enthusiastic and it gives you a real satisfaction to know you’ve encouraged their enjoyment of the game.”
