Sydney FC Re-Signs Championship Winner Jordan Thompson

Sydney FC has re-signed Championship winning defender Jordan Thompson for the Liberty A-League 2024-25 season.

The United States centre-half formed a formidable partnership with the departing Charlotte McLean to record the tightest defence in the competition, by a long way last season.

She will now link up with Captain Natalie Tobin who is returning from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 25-year-old made the top three candidates in the Sky Blues’ Player of the Year awards despite arriving seven games into the season and she is delighted to be returning to Australia.

“I’m so excited and grateful to be re-signing with Sydney for the upcoming season,” she said.

“I had the opportunity to be part of such a special team, club and atmosphere last season, and to get the chance to come back and play another season here is a dream come true.

“I can’t wait for the upcoming season and to compete for a Premiership and another Championship.”

Our Championship win was Jordan’s first career trophy and she’s hungry for more.

Head Coach Ante Juric is pleased to have another one of his Championship winners on board as Sydney FC attempts to defend their title.

“Jordan is a fantastic defender and I’m extremely happy to have her back for us next season,” he said.

“She has been excellent for us on and off the field, and she is a great character and leader which will be important next season.

“I’m looking forward to her building a great partnership with Natalie when she returns after a full pre-season.”

Thompson netted twice in 19 appearances and completed eight clean sheets.
