Sydney FC’s longest-serving, most successful, and greatest ever goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne will bid farewell to the Sky Blues at the end of the 2024/25 season, bringing to a close an extraordinary eight-and-a-half-year chapter with the club.
Redmayne will leave as a Sydney FC icon, having amassed 237 appearances in all competitions – the third most in club history behind Rhyan Grant and Alex Brosque.
Since arriving in January 2017, the 35-year-old has become a cornerstone of one of the A-League’s greatest dynasties.

The man affectionately known as “Redders” will be remembered as much for his humble nature, as for his unmatched achievements between the sticks, including three A-League Championships, three Premierships, two Australia Cup titles and 64 clean sheets.
He also earned four caps for the Socceroos, including the iconic penalty save that sealed Australia’s place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Among his many highlights in Sky Blue, Redmayne famously made two penalty saves in the 2019 Grand Final to hand Sydney FC the Championship, etching his name into club folklore.
Reflecting on leaving Sydney FC, Redmayne expressed deep affection for the club, its supporters and his time in Sky Blue.
“These eight and a half seasons have been the best of my career, and the most successful. Sydney FC will always have a special place in my heart,” said the two-time A-League Goalkeeper of the Year winner (2019/20 & 2020/21).
“From the moment I arrived, this club welcomed me and gave me everything – belief, support and the chance to be part of something truly special. I’ve made lifelong memories and lifelong friends.
“To the Members and fans, thank you. You’ve supported me through everything and helped make this place feel like home. I’ll always be proud to have worn this jersey, your jersey.
“I’m excited for the next chapter of my life and the new adventure ahead, but I will always look back on my time with Sydney FC with immense pride and gratitude.”
Redmayne’s impact was felt not just on the field, but off it – a true leader in the dressing room and a consistent example of professionalism, loyalty and humility.
Sydney FC Captain Rhyan Grant, Redmayne’s long time team-mate and room-mate, praised the veteran keeper for his contributions, calling him a “true servant” of Sydney FC.
“Redders’ loyalty and achievements at this football club will be rightly remembered and recognised,” Grant said.
“He’s been an integral part of the team’s successes for many years and has contributed in so many ways.
“Beyond that, he’s been an outstanding figure around the club, a mentor to younger players – the ultimate team-mate, professional and friend.
“He leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten.”

Redmayne’s Sydney FC statistics stand among the best: 191 A-League matches, 22 AFC Champions League appearances, and 24 Australia Cup games.
He will be formally recognised by the club ahead of Sunday’s final regular season home match against Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium (kick-off 3pm), in what will be his final home game in Sky Blue.
The Sky Blues faithful are encouraged to arrive early and show their appreciation for a player who has given everything to the badge.
Thank you, Redders. A true Sydney FC legend.
