Sydney FC has finalised their Liberty A-League squad ahead of tomorrow’s first game of the season at Allianz Stadium, with the signing of central midfielder Darcey Malone.
The 20-year old re-joins the Sky Blues after making two appearances in the 2018-19 Championship winning season and is available for selection for tomorrow’s Sydney Derby clash with Western Sydney Wanderers.
Malone made 21 appearances for Melbourne City over the past two seasons but is excited to be coming back home.
“Sydney FC is the benchmark football club in the Liberty A-League and I feel it’s a real privilege to be joining,” she said.
“Sky Park has the best training facilities in the country and Sydney FC is leading the way in women’s football.
“It’s a great time to be joining the best club in the country, particularly after such a fantastic World Cup.
“I’m looking forward to playing in front of the new Sydney FC Members and the huge crowd that is expected in the opening game.”
Head Coach Ante Juric said Malone adds great depth to the Sky Blues squad.
“Darcey is an extremely capable midfielder who will create great competition in our squad.
“She is joining us on the eve of the season however she knows us well and has already hit the ground running in training.
“She will be a real asset and will challenge the girls around her to perform to their best.”
Malone will wear the number eight.
