Sydney FC is bidding farewell to its greatest ever women’s appearance maker, Princess Ibini, with the club legend keen to embark on the next stage of her football journey overseas.

The 25-year-old departs having made 163 appearances across all competitions for the Sky Blues, including a record-breaking 160 in the A-League Women’s competition.

Her name is etched in the history books as not only Sydney FC’s all-time record appearance maker in the women’s competition, but also as the only player in A-Leagues history — Men’s or Women’s — to feature in an extraordinary eight Grand Finals.

Princess Ibini scored Sydney FC’s third and decisive goal from the penalty spot in the Grand Final of 2023.

Ibini made her debut in Canberra as a 15-year-old in 2015, and over a stellar decade with her hometown club, she has become a role model, fan favourite, and an integral part of one of the A-League Women’s most dominant sides.

Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric paid tribute to the impact the winger has had both on and off the field.

“Princess has been the heart and soul of Sydney FC for the last ten seasons,” Juric said.

“She joined us as a young teenager and grew into one of the most consistent and reliable players this league has seen.

“She’s a fierce competitor, a wonderful teammate and has contributed massively to our success with her goals, assists, and leadership.

“We’ll miss her dearly, but we’re incredibly proud to see her take this next step.”

Ibini, who scored 31 goals and played in 11 Finals Series campaigns, expressed her deep gratitude to the club that has shaped her career.

“I’m so thankful to Sydney FC for believing in me as a 15-year-old and giving me the chance to live out my dream,” she said.

“It’s been an incredible journey — to play so many games, win so many trophies, and to make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Ibini’s honours include three Championships (2018–19, 2022–23, 2023–24) and three Premierships (2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23), as well as being part of the inaugural A-League All Stars Women Team in 2024.
