Sydney FC CEO Steps Down After 10 Years Service

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Adam Santo has announced he will step down from his position following 10 years of service to the club.

Santo joined Sydney FC in July 2013 as Chief Financial Officer, progressing to Chief Operating Officer and in May 2022, Santo was appointed Chief Executive Officer.

Over the past 10 years, Santo has contributed significantly to the club from a commercial, football and strategic perspective.

Over the last 18 months, during Santo’s tenure as CEO, the club achieved historic milestones with the opening of Sky Park (Sydney FC Centre of Excellence) and the launch of a Female Football Pathway.

Santo also oversaw the club’s return to the brand new Allianz Stadium which coincided with Sydney FC breaking its membership record and achieving a Premiership and Championship double in the A-League Women.

Chairman Scott Barlow praised Santo’s contribution over the ten years.

“Adam has shown incredible dedication to the club over the past ten years and on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Adam for his hard work and contribution.

“Adam’s departure provides the club with an opportunity to bring in a new CEO who will lead the club through our next phase of growth.

“Over his 10 years with the club, Adam has successfully progressed through a number of senior roles and most recently into the CEO position. He led the club during a crucial period and was responsible for the delivery of important strategic objectives.

“Adam departs with our best wishes and I would like to wish Adam all the very best for the future.”

Santo revealed his reasons for stepping down while reflecting on his ten years at the club.

“It has been a privilege to have spent the past ten years at this great football club,” he said.

“I would like to thank Chairman Scott Barlow and the Board of Sydney FC for their support.

“I have worked tirelessly over many years to ensure this club is successful both on and off the field. I am proud of where the club is today and I believe it is now time for a change and for me to find a new challenge.

“It was always an ambition of mine to work in football and I will depart the club with so many great memories and achievements.”

Sydney FC have commenced a search for a new Chief Executive Officer.

Santo will ensure a smooth transition to the new Chief Executive Officer by remaining at the club until the new Chief Executive Officer is appointed.
