Sydney FC has appointed Mark Aubrey as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Aubrey has over 20 years of experience as a senior executive and strategic advisor in the gaming, entertainment, and technology sectors.
He has held senior leadership and marketing roles at some of the world’s leading entertainment companies including Activision Blizzard and Warner Bros where he managed major global AAA franchises like Call of Duty, Harry Potter and Star Wars.
Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow said: “Mark is a highly experienced leader with a successful track record managing high performing teams and global entertainment franchises.
“He is skilled in engaging large fanbases and with his commercial and marketing acumen, Mark is well placed to lead Sydney FC through our next phase of growth.
“Mark has a strong passion for football and has been a Sydney FC supporter since the first season of the A-League.
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Mark to Sydney FC and look forward to a strong and successful future.”
A life-long football fan as a player, referee, coach, and supporter Aubrey stood among Sydney FC’s active supporters ‘The Cove’ during the early years of the A-League and he has attended games all over the world including World Cups in Japan, South Africa and recently in Australia.
“Sydney FC has achieved incredible success and Saturday’s Australia Cup win was phenomenal,” he said.
“I’ve been a fan since day one so it is a real privilege to take on this responsibility and I’m looking forward to working alongside the entire Sydney FC team to help create more memories for our Members.
“Australian football has huge untapped potential which was witnessed by the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and I want to build on the momentum that was created.
“It’s an extremely exciting time to be a football supporter in Australia and I can’t wait to get started.”
Aubrey officially begins his new role on Monday.
