Sydney FC Academy & NPL Wrap: Round 12

Sydney FC’s Academy and NPL sides have enjoyed a stellar weekend, winning six out of seven games against Marconi and Hakoah respectively.

It was an important weekend for the Sky Blues as the season reached its halfway point, with a number of the sides moving into finals positions, while also going agonisingly close to securing a ‘bluewash’.

The NPL First Grade side have moved into the top eight of their division after a grinding 1-0 win on Saturday night against Hakoah and this weekend will take on Manly who sit just three points ahead of them on the table in a crucial clash.

The U20’s and U18s are both in the top four of their divisions following the weekend’s results as they picked up 2-1 and 3-2 victories respectively, with both showing the signs of being Championship material.

The U16’s are also into the top four of the competition after a very important 2-0 win over Marconi Stallions, and the win places them just two points behind the high-flying Hakoah outfit.

The Sky Blue U15’s side thrashed Marconi 5-2 and are edging closer towards ladder-leading rivals Western Sydney Wanderers, while the U14’s put in a gallant effort against a strong Marconi outfit in their 0-3 loss.

The U13’s have also found themselves in the top eight after a massive 4-1 victory on Saturday and are beginning to make their mark on the competition – and a clash with the struggling GHFA Spirit this weekend will give them a chance to boost their confidence further.
