After falling to a three nil defeat last Sunday against arch-rivals, the Central Coast Mariners, Sydney FC will be back in action this weekend, and out to keep its hopes alive in the Hyundai A-League-s Pre-Season Cup.
Despite its loss in Gosford, Sydney is still in the running to claim the Cup, and can secure a berth in next Wednesday-s final with a strong performance against Group B leaders, the Wellington Phoenix in Wollongong on Saturday night.
Coach, John Kosmina was happy with the improvement he saw in his side against the Central Coast, and believes his team is on track for a successful season.
“We-ve still got a long way to go, there-re 22 matches if you include next week-s game,” Kosmina said after the loss to the Mariners. “We-re getting better every time we take the park and if we can beat Wellington we-ve still got a chance of making the final.”
Sydney FC-s Pre-Season Cup clash with the Wellington Phoenix will be played at WIN Stadium in Wollongong on Saturday night, with kick-off at 7pm.
Tickets for the round three Pre-Season Cup match can be pre-purchased through Ticketek or at the venue.
