Throughout the month of August, a number of our star female players have been representing Australia at U20 and U18 level.
Charlize Rule and Sarah Hunter were in the Young Matildas camp as they flew to South America to take part in the U20 Women’s World Cup.
The Young Matildas opened the tournament with Sarah Hunter firing the Green and Gold ahead from the spot in a 3-1 win over hosts Costa Rica however the team failed to qualify for the next round after defeats to Brazil and Spain in the remaining two group stage matches.
For Sky Blues rising stars Shay Hollman, Mary Stanic-Floody and Tahlia Franco, the past month has seen them compete at the AFF U18 Women’s Championship and they won the ultimate prize with a 2-0 victory over Vietnam in the final.
Co-Captain Shay Hollman picked up Player of the Tournament after an impressive shift in midfield throughout the competition.
