Sydney FC shotstopper Andrew Redmayne has credited his team mates for his penalty heroics on Sunday at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium against Melbourne City.

The Sky Blues’ glovesman saved his third spot kick of the 2018/19 season late in the match to preserve his clean sheet and ensure victory, and likewise hailed Head Goalkeeping Coach John Crawley for his part in the save.

“Flip a coin and go with that,” Redmayne said of his save.

“I’ve gained a lot of confidence from the boys, it’s the comradery in the team that’s given me a lot of confidence within myself that I’m wanted and comfortable in the team. I think that’s showing in my performances.

“[John] Crawley is amazing, he’s the best in the business and I think his track record speaks for itself.

“He’s got the Socceroos goalkeepers and a lot of fringe boys, his development is outstanding and the work he puts in on the training pitch and game day and behind the scenes is phenomenal and I’m really happy working under him.

“I’m happy to have stopped the penalty, but I feel there’s a lot of improvement left in the team. I don’t want to have to save penalties, but I feel like justice was done.”

“There’s a lot of positives, clean sheet, three points, but there’s still a lot of improvement left in the team.”

Redmayne said he’d take fond memories of Netstrata Jubilee Stadium with his this season, as he set his sights on more wins at the Sky Blues’ new home at Leichhardt Oval.

“It [Netstrata Jubilee Stadium] was a fantastic stadium,” Redmayne said.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing in it and I know my family and friends have enjoyed coming to games whether up in the stands or on a blanket on the hill. I can’t wait to get back there next season.

“I think we’ve had some good success at Leichhardt Oval in the FFA Cup and pre-season.

“It’s another historic ground in New South Wales and I can’t wait to see it pumping full of Sky Blue.”
