Vine and Whyman commit to Sky Blues

Matildas’ stars Cortnee Vine and Jada Whyman will proudly wear the Sky Blue of Sydney FC in the Liberty A-League 2022-23 season.

The double Premiership winning duo have been central to the Sky Blue’s success over the past two seasons, with their form earning both Matildas call-ups in the past 12 months.

Winger Cortnee Vine has signed on despite attracting interest from clubs overseas and is excited to be remaining here in Sydney.

“I feel very at home at Sydney FC and the club and our squad are like family to me so I had no hesitation in re-signing,” she said.

“We feel we’ve been the best club over the past few years having consistently won trophies and qualified for Grand Finals and we’ve got another very good chance this season with the players in our side.

“Playing for the Matildas at the new Allianz Stadium gave me a real sense of how incredible it is to play there and I can’t wait to go back again this season.”

Goalkeeper Whyman, who is 22 years old, starts her third season in Sydney FC colours and is determined to complete the double after narrowly missing out in the last two Grand Finals.

“I’ve really enjoying my football since joining Sydney FC. We’ve had some great wins over the past couple of seasons, and this season we plan to work hard and hopefully have another good one,” she said.
