Sydney FC has secured the future of exciting Young Matildas full back Rubi Sullivan, with the 17-year-old signing a new contract with the Sky Blues for Ninja A-League 2026-27 season.
One of Australian football’s promising young defenders, Sullivan is looking to take the next step in her development this season and cement a regular starting position in Head Coach James Slaveski’s side.
The talented full back has already represented Australia eight times at Young Matildas level, while making 11 appearances for Sydney FC, including seven starts.
Sullivan said she was delighted to commit her future to the Sky Blues.
“I’m really happy to have signed for another year and I’m excited about what’s ahead for me at Sydney FC,” she said.
“I want to keep developing, push on with my career and improve every day.
“My goal now is to become a regular starter and contribute as much as I can to a successful season for the team.”
Head Coach James Slaveski believes Sullivan has the potential to establish herself as an important member of the Sky Blues squad following the departure of Tori Tumeth to Vancouver.
“Rubi is a very talented young player with a lot of potential and we’re delighted she has committed her future to Sydney FC,” he said.
“She already has some valuable A-League and international experience behind her, and this is a great time for her to really move forward with her career.
“We want to see her pushing hard to become a regular in our starting line-up and I’m looking forward to seeing how far she can progress next season.”
Meanwhile Sydney FC have also promoted young striker Jada Taylor from Sydney FC’s Football Development Squad to the A-League Women’s squad for the season.
The under-17 Junior Matildas international will wear the number 22 shirt.
The Sky Blues return to training in September ahead of the 2026-27 Ninja A-League season.
