The 18 year old, fresh from the AFC U-22 Championships in Oman, had a stand out game against the Victory, achieving a 100% pass completion rate, and is looking to seize the opportunity of a starting spot that has been awarded to him by Head Coach Frank Farina.
“I-ve been just waiting for my opportunity and thankfully I-ve been given that chance to play,” Gligor said.
“I-m really grateful that they-ve given me that opportunity and I-m really happy.
“Being in that position, it-s tough. There-s a lot of players that can easily be in there and I think I just need to play well to cement that position each week.”
Gligor said the Sky Blues were full of confidence heading into the clash against the Heart and feels that the 5-0 drubbing of the Victory last weekend shows what the Sydney FC are capable of, on their day.
“I think coming off a game like that it can give us a lot of confidence coming into this game,” Gligor said.
“Melbourne Heart have had some really good results the last few weeks and they-re looking to fire against us as well, but I think we have a lot of confidence going into this game and future games.
“I was very surprised [at the 5-0 result] but I think our performance showed how good we can be and if we continue to play like that I think we can do really well.”
