Donachie Completes World’s Greatest Shave

Sydney FC’s James Donachie has completed his charity shave for the Leukaemia Foundation having taken part in World’s Greatest Shave, the third time in three years a Sky Blues player has been involved.

The defender dyed his hair blond last month in preparation for the shave and has now gone completely bald look having allowed his team-mates to cut his hair.

The centre half is trying to raise upwards of $5,000 for the charity and follows team-mates Rhyan Grant and Luke Brattan who have done the shave in the past two years.

“We’ve raised a good amount of money which I think can help a fair bit of people and a fair few families. “ said Donachie.

“We’re up to three-and-a-half [thousand dollars raised] and the target is five – we’ve still got a bit of time to get it up there!

“It’s a great cause, it’s something you know is going to go to the right place.”

He will sport the look for the first time on the field against Central Coast Mariners tomorrow in Gosford.

It’s a game the Sky Blues know they must win to stay on course for the Isuzu Ute Finals Series.

“We need a result, I think we’re all aware. All of us are aware, the fans are aware where we’re at. You can’t really sugarcoat where we’re sitting at the moment.” he added.

Referencing Wednesday’s game away to Melbourne City, James goes on to emphasise “It’s not a result that this club is used to. But the thing is that because we’ve got so many games, you’ve got two days to bounce back and change it which is the positive.”

“Our finals have started much earlier this season because of the position we’re in, so we need to go there and win at all costs and that’s just what the boys have in their heads.”
