I am delighted to write to you today following Football Federation Australia’s exciting news announcing the return of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.
A lot of hard work and sacrifice by players, coaches and staff has gone into ensuring football returns, and I’m glad our Sky Blues can now complete the job we started by winning back-to-back Championships.
The first game of our campaign is against Wellington Phoenix on Friday 17th July, which is a huge chance to cement our spot in first position, as we try to clinch a record breaking fourth Premiers Plate.
This game is one of 27 in 28 days league-wide, the rest of which will be announced shortly, before the Finals Series commences in August.
It means our players, coaching and support staff can return to training tomorrow morning for the first time in three months.
They have completed their medical screenings and Covid-19 testing, while strict operational protocols have been implemented at the training ground to minimise the risk of infection.
Our digital media team will keep you up to date with the breaking news and exclusive interviews as our boys get ready for action.
In further positive news, the Federal Government have relaxed rules for crowds in stadiums from July 1.
It means Members may be able to attend some of our remaining home matches, and we are working through all the options regarding logistics and venues with FFA and State and Federal Governments.
We appreciate your understanding while this work takes place, and we will communicate what this means for your Membership as soon as possible.
It’s great that we finally have something we can all get excited about and I’m expecting a thrilling end to the season.
I’d again like to thank you for your wonderful support throughout these uncertain times; please make no mistake that it is very highly valued and I look forward to seeing you all in person in the near future.
Stay safe and well.
