I would just like to start things off by thanking all the Members and fans that came down to support us at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium last night despite it being a midweek fixture.
Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well.
First off, I’d like to start by thanking The Cove for their fantastic support over the course of the season so far. Their dedication and support to us as players is unrivalled, and I’d like to give them a special shout out for the banner they produced ahead of my 300th game last week. I was really touched by the gesture and it’s a pleasure to lead the team out in front of you all each week.
I would also like to thank all the Members and fans that came down to support us at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium last night despite it being a midweek fixture.
It was a tough start for the boys last night, I don’t think we matched the intensity of Western United in the first 5 minutes or so, but as the game got going the boys hit their stride and we were able to bag the first goal. This allowed us to let Western United come to us and we controlled the game from the get-go. I’m very happy with how the boys maintained our composure over both halves.
It’s great to get back to winning ways, and hopefully it’s something we can maintain.
The Premiership is still very much on the cards and it’s something that’s pushing the boys to an extra level of intensity through training recently.
Players like Busta [Rhyan Grant], his energy is so infectious it brings the moral of the boys up. He celebrated a big milestone game in style scoring on his 200th A-League appearance. It goes to show how important he is to our team and it’s been a pleasure playing alongside him.
Also, seeing the return of Bobô , he’s recently been getting back to match fitness, which has been great. Scoring in back-to-back games, he’s given us another dimension up front which has made a huge impact.
Coming up this Saturday, Newcastle Jets and our first match up against them this season.
It’s a busy week so we need to make sure we recover well over the next two days so we’re back in shape ready for a tough Newcastle side. They’re a difficult opponent who can keep the ball well, so it’ll take some time to break them down. However, I’m confident in the ability of the lads and that we can make it back-to-back wins this week.
Hope to see you all there Saturday!
