Arnold Warns We’re Even Greater

Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has sent a warning to the Hyundai A-League competition saying he’s got a greater Sky Blues squad than his record breaking double winning team of 2016/17.

The Sky Blues boss said he was looking forward to the season getting underway as he stated he expects nothing less than to win Saturday’s blockbuster Round One Big Blue at Etihad Stadium (kick off 7:50pm).

“Our motivation is to be better than last season,” Arnold said.

“It’s about moving forward and being greater than what we were.

“We believe that we’ve got a greater squad than what we had last season, we’re a greater team than what we were last season and we’re looking forward to the start this week.

“I prefer to look at ourselves [rather than the opposition] and make sure that we’re fully prepared mentally, physically and tactically.

“When we go down to Melbourne it’s to perform at the best of our ability. I know if we do that we expect to win.”

Arnold heralded his new signings for making the squad greater, as he emphasised the belief he has in each player to produce another momentous season in 2017/18.

“Adrian Mierzejewski has been outstanding since he arrived,” Arnold said.

“Luke Wilkshire brings a lot of experience and he’s still top fit, Paulo Retre has been outstanding also.

“We’ve got a very very good squad who I’ve got a lot of belief and confidence in and one that I believe will do a great job.

“I believe we’re ready for the task,” he continued.

“I have so much belief in the boys, I believe that we’ll always go out and put in a great performance.

“They’re a great group of good people with great attitudes to win, we’ve shown in the past it doesn’t matter if we go down one nil, we come back.

“These boys are a group of winners, we’ll fight for each other the whole way, they have it in themselves that we believe we’re in for another top season.”
