Sydney FC and Macarthur Strike Landmark Agreement

Hyundai A-League 2010 Champions Sydney FC and the Macarthur District Soccer Football Association have entered into a landmark agreement that will see the two bodies establish formal links and foster grassroots participation in the area.

Hyundai A-League 2010 Champions Sydney FC and the Macarthur District Soccer Football Association (MDSFA) have entered into a landmark agreement that will see the two bodies establish formal links and foster grassroots participation in the area.

Sydney FC-s Head of Football Stefan Kamasz and Macarthur General Manager Glenn Armstrong today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will strengthen the organisations relationships while providing each with a raft of new and far reaching benefits.

The centrepiece of the three-year agreement is that Sydney FC will provide every child 12 years and under registered with the Macarthur association with a free Bronze membership to the club.

The agreement will allow Sydney FC to engage with the thousands of junior registered players in the Macarthur District through clinics, player appearances and match day experiences while also offering discounted ticketing and club merchandise.

Additionally, Macarthur coaching staff will have the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with Sydney FC-s championship winning counterparts, attend specific Sydney FC training sessions and have promising young players- trial with the newly established Sydney FC Academy.

The Macarthur Rams will also play Sydney FC each year under the agreement.
This is the first of many similar agreements Sydney FC will enter into with football associations across New South Wales.

“This is a ground breaking relationship that will enable Sydney FC to work with the Macarthur Association on all levels, from grassroots to advanced coaching seminars with the likes of Vitezslav Lavicka, Tony Popovic and John Filan,” Kamasz said.

Armstrong said the new agreement they have entered into with Sydney FC will provide them with access to information, skills and advice they thirst for and can utilise at all levels.

“A lot of our junior players want to play for Sydney FC and you can just imagine their faces when they see someone like Alex Brosque, Mark Bridge or Kofi Danning teaching them about the game,” Armstrong said.

“The free membership for registered players under the age of 12 is a fantastic initiative.

“The new agreement gives them a clear pathway to the top. Not only will our juniors benefit greatly, our senior players and coaches will be able to tap into Sydney FC-s playing and coaching philosophies.

“Having a relationship of such importance with a club like Sydney FC will benefit our association for many, many years.”

The MDSFA is affiliated with Football NSW (FNSW) and responsible for the administration and development of football within the local government areas around Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly.

The MOU will commence on Saturday 1 May 2010.
