Skipper Terry McFlynn says Sydney FC gave him back his love for football as the midfielder gets ready to play his 150th game for the club in Wellington.
The former Northern Ireland under 21 international joined the club after a trial before the A-League-s inaugural season and hasn-t looked back.
“When I signed for the club they gave me a chance to reinvigorate my love for football and I always said that I would do everything possible to repay that faith, and only leave when they don-t want me,” said McFlynn.
“Thankfully they-ve wanted me up until this point and I-m just thankful for the opportunity week in, week out.”
Despite being the only man to play for Sydney FC in every season of the A-League, the landmark came as a surprise to the club-s record appearance maker.
“I didn-t even realise to be honest until someone told me the other day it was 150 games.
“It-s a very proud moment for me to have represented the club 150 times but more importantly we-ve got a very big game in Wellington and it-s about getting the job done there.”
Sydney meet Wellington on Friday night in a Hyundai A-League Elimination Final. Kick off at 6pm AEDT.
