The first A-League kit dedicated to a club’s active support honours the passion, loyalty and noise of The Cove in Bay 23.
Sydney FC, in partnership with Under Armour, has launched its third kit, a jersey built from the ground up to celebrate the best fans in the A-League: The Cove in Bay 23.
It is the first A-League kit dedicated to a club’s active support, and a statement of how much the Club values the supporters who have stood behind the Sky Blues since day one.
The close relationship between Sydney FC and The Cove has always been at the heart of the Club’s identity, and this kit puts that bond front and centre, literally.
The kit layers a black jersey with charcoal grey silhouettes across the front. The back is kept clean and simple, with design only on the sleeves.
The bottom half of the jersey shows silhouettes of The Cove in full voice, holding signage, scarves and Sydney FC merchandise. It’s a picture of the dedication supporters bring week in, week out, home and away.
The Bay 23 logo sits just below the collar on the top left shoulder, in a light charcoal grey outline that stands out against the black. It gives the active support its own place on the Club’s shirt.
The iconic blue deconstructed Sydney FC logo sits on the middle right of the shirt. A blue embellishment on the bottom right reads ‘We Are Sydney’, reflecting the pride and passion shared by the team and its supporters, and giving fans a way to proudly show their love for the Club.
References to the Harbour Bridge and other iconic Sydney landmarks sit among the Bay 23 emblems. Sky Blue supporters wearing the kit will represent not just the Club but the city of Sydney itself.
From the first whistle of the A-League era, The Cove has given Sydney FC its voice.
Its members built a home-ground atmosphere opponents dread and travelled the country behind the team.
Through Championships, Finals and tough nights alike, they have never stopped singing.
They have created many of the Club’s defining moments, and this kit is Sydney FC’s way of saying thank you.
“Win or lose, The Cove supporters are always showing up, and have never wavered in their support of us, bringing the noise that makes the atmosphere of every game we play,” said Sydney FC Men’s Captain Rhyan Grant.
Sydney FC Women’s Captain Natalie Tobin added: “Without The Cove and Bay 23 supporting us, and continuing to show up for all of our games, we wouldn’t be the club that we are today.
“At Sydney FC we really value the pride and the support that the fans have for us, so being able to capture and share that club pride with the supporters through this kit is amazing.”
Sydney FC Executive Vice Chairman Sebastian Gray said: “The Cove has been part of the fabric of Sydney FC since the very beginning.
“As the first A-League club to dedicate a kit to its active support, we’re recognising everything our supporters have given this Club: their voice, their loyalty and their passion.
“It’s a kit made for the fans, inspired by the fans, and we couldn’t be prouder to see it worn on the pitch and in the stands.”
Sydney FC’s Men’s and Women’s squads will wear the jersey this weekend in matches away to Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar respectively.
