Sydney FC have added further international firepower to their attack with the signing of Panama’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 forward Riley Tanner ahead of the Ninja A-League 2025–26 Women’s season.
The 25-year-old, left winger, who was born in the United States, made a strong impression on Australian fans earlier this year when she twice lined up against the Matildas in Western Australia.

Tanner was instrumental in Panama’s surprise 1-0 victory in the opening friendly, catching the eye with her pace, skill and tireless forward play.
She also played a prominent role in Panama’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 campaign in Australia, playing in all three group games against Brazil, France and Jamaica.

Drafted by the Washington Spirit in 2023 following a standout college career, Tanner has since continued her professional development in the United States.
Most recently, she played with Spokane Zephyr, where she played alongside fellow new Sky Blue recruit Jodi Ulkekul, giving Sydney FC Members reason to be excited about their reunion in Sky Blue.

Head Coach Ante Juric welcomed the signing: “Riley is a very exciting addition for us.
“She’s played at a high level both internationally with Panama and in the United States, and she’s shown her ability to stand out against some of the best players in the world,” he said.
“She has great pace, technical ability and a natural eye for goal. Her work ethic and the way she combines well with teammates are some of her stand out qualities and she’s exactly the kind of player who can give us another dimension in attack this season.”

Tanner said she is thrilled to join the Sky Blues: “I’m so excited to be signing for Sydney FC — it’s a huge step in my career.
“Playing against Australia earlier this year was an amazing experience and showed me the quality of football here.
“I want to challenge myself in the A-League Women and help Sydney FC fight for another Championship.
“My attributes are my speed, creativity, and ability to take on defenders one-v-one, and I’ll bring energy and determination to every game.
“I can’t wait to meet my new teammates, work with Ante, and play in front of the amazing Sky Blue Members.”

Eligible to represent Panama through her mother, Tanner has already become a key figure for her national team and now looks to make a major impact in Australian football with Sydney FC.
She will arrive in Australia shortly before beginning training with her new team in mid-September.
