Three In A Row For Sydney FC With Derby Win

Sydney FC have made it three wins in a row with a fantastic Sydney Derby win away at ten man Western Sydney Wanderers.

A superb solo goal from Max Burgess in the first half secured the three points for Steve Corica’s side who moved within a point of their rivals.

RED CARD TO NGBAKOTO – 63′ – Ngbakoto slaps Retre in the face and is sent off following a VAR review.

BEADLING GOAL DISALLOWED – 72’ – Beadling has the ball in the net from a free-kick but Mrcela is adjudged offside from the initial cross.

WOOD HITS SIDE NETTING – 84’ – Wood breaks clear and takes on the Wanderers final man but fires into the side-netting.

What They Said: Steve Corica: “The first 25 minutes we played them off the park, the shots were about even but the most pleasing thing is the clean sheet and we defended well.

“I can’t remember them having a clear cut chance, and I think we probably had the better chances of the game.

“We wanted pay back here tonight from the first game at Allianz Stadium, you can celebrate but do it with class.

“I think Rudes (Marko Rudan) was a little bit frustrated with their performance and the result.

“We took it on the chin when we lost at our home ground and he’s probably just being a little bit of a sore loser tonight.”

Match Report: Sydney FC’s Max Burgess scored a stunning first half goal to give the Sky Blues all three points in a fiery Sydney Derby clash at CommBank Stadium.

The Wanderers had top scorer Yeni Ngbakoto sent off in the second half for a slap in the face of Paulo Retre.

Substitute Tom Beadling also had a goal disallowed for offside for the home side with Sydney FC creating the better of the chances.

The Sky Blues held on to the lead defending resolutely to move up to within three points of second place and claim a third consecutive win.
