Sydney FC has completed the re-signing of American-born Panama international Riley Cohn (née Tanner)for the Ninja A-League 2026-27 season, bringing last season’s Golden Boot winner back to the Sky Blues.
The exciting winger returns following an excellent campaign in Sky Blue in which she led the club’s goalscoring charts and established herself as one of Sydney FC’s most dangerous attacking threats.
Cohn, who got married in June, produced a number of important moments throughout the season, including a brilliant double against Melbourne Victory in an impressive late-season win.
The Panama international had initially been expected to move on from the Sky Blues this off-season, however a change in circumstances meant she became available again, opening the door for a return to Sydney.
Head Coach James Slaveski said he had no hesitation in moving quickly to bring Cohn back into his squad.
“When we became aware Riley’s circumstances had changed and there was an opportunity for her to return, I had absolutely no hesitation in making her an offer,” Slaveski said.
“We know exactly the quality Riley possesses and we saw that consistently last season.
“She is a player who can make things happen in the final third. She can create opportunities, beat players and score goals.
“Having a player with those qualities back in our squad is fantastic news and I’m delighted we’ve been able to get it done.”
Cohn said she was thrilled circumstances had allowed her to return to Sydney FC and is determined to help the Sky Blues enjoy a stronger campaign.
“I’m extremely happy to be coming back to Sydney FC,” Cohn said.
“I enjoyed last season immensely. I loved being part of the club, playing with the girls and representing Sydney FC, so when the opportunity came up to return it was something I was really excited about.
“On a personal level I was pleased to contribute with goals last season, but as a team we know we want to achieve much more this year.
“We have a really talented squad and I’m coming back hungry to help us have a much more successful campaign and challenge for trophies.”
Cohn’s return adds further attacking quality to Slaveski’s squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign with fellow American Faith Webber recently announced and Indiana Dos Santos and Maddie Caspers also returning from long term injuries.
The Sky Blues have also added Nat Tobin and Charlotte McLean back in Sky Blue.
