Sydney FC will play their final A-League Men’s match at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium next Saturday night (May 7th) when old rivals Melbourne Victory are the visitors for the last home match of the 2021-22 season.
After three and a half years of displacement, it’s the last time the local community will get the chance to see Sydney FC at the Kogarah venue before the Sky Blues move into their new world class, purpose built home at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park.
It’s set to be a huge event with $10 tickets and an expectation of a packed out venue.
Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend said: “We really want to make our final game at Jubilee an occasion to remember for the community and to go out with a bang.
“It’s a final chance to enjoy the atmosphere of a Sydney FC game at one of our intimate, suburban grounds and there will be plenty happening outside of the football.
“It’s also going to be a crucial match in the race for final positions on the ladder against one of our biggest rivals in Melbourne Victory and their Head Coach Tony Popovic.
“These are games against an old enemy which always serve up drama.”
Head Coach Steve Corica will look back on his time at the venue fondly and is looking forward to a big support.
“We’ve had a wonderful time playing at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and have some fantastic memories,” he said.
“It has been an extremely successful period and home ground for us.
“Next Saturday will be our final home game at the stadium and I think it will be a real occasion for the local community to remember.
“We’d love to see everyone come out and join the party.”
Sydney FC’s first game after the leaving Allianz Stadium in 2018 was in front of a pumping sell-out crowd against Victory at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
Skipper Alex Wilkinson believes something similar could be on the cards.
“It will be a massive event next weekend and we really want to go out in style,” he said.
“It’s going to be huge against Melbourne Victory and we’ll still have a Finals spot to play for, so we need that support.
“I remember playing in front of the 19,000 fans in the first game we played at the ground and it was a great atmosphere.
“It was a real day for the local community to come out and get together, and it will be the same one final time next Saturday night.”
Sydney FC will also be putting on a lot of activities for families before and during the game with fireworks, drummers, music, giveaways and a pumping Fan Zone.
The match also coincides with Sydney FC’s annual Members Appreciation Round which provides the opportunity for Sydney FC to thank Members for their ongoing support throughout the displacement, with a range of Member exclusive match day experiences, prizes and giveaways from the club and the club’s partners.
