biography-icon Biography
Already boasting over 50 caps for her country, Caitlin Foord is one of Australian football’s brightest female talents and returned home to the club where she made her Westfield W-League debut and won the 2010/11 Premiership and 2012/13 Championship at the start of the 2016/17 season. Foord has been a virtual ever-present for the Matildas since making her debut in 2011 and has also won the FIFA Women's World Cup Best Young Player and Asian Young Footballer of the Year awards. In 2016, Caitlin Foord was crowed women’s AFC Player of the Year for 2016 in Abu Dhabi. The Sky Blues attacking midfielder lifted the award ahead of fellow Matilda Lisa De Vanna and China’s Tan Ruyin who were also in the final three nominations. It was a reward for a stellar year for the Wollongong-born 22 year old who became only the second player to win both the senior award and the AFC Women’s Youth Player of the Year following her success in 2011.
