Young Sky Blues Off To Perfect Start

Young Sky Blues Off To Perfect Start

Sydney FC’s Foxtel Y-League squad got off to the perfect start in their 2018/19 campaign with a solid 2-0 win against Newcastle Jets at Adamstown Oval on Sunday.

A brace to Marco Tilio with a goal in each half paved the way for the Young Sky Blues to set up the win.

The opener in the 34th minute was a great team goal as Sydney FC transitioned from the back to the front for Tilio to slot his shot inside the post for 1-0.

The closest Newcastle came in the opening period was with an angled strike which hit the post and bounced out to safety as the Sky Blues took their advantage to the break.

The second half saw Sydney FC dominate with their possession football and high press causing problems for the Jets.

A turnover on the press saw the Sky Blues surge forward with a well-placed pass finding Tilio in full flight and the midfielder slid the ball past the onrushing Newcastle custodian to double the lead.

Sydney FC played out the remainder of the half with controlled possession and could have added one or two more to the scoreboard but their efforts were just wide of the mark.

Round 2 will see Sydney FC with the BYE and before returning to action on Saturday 24 November when they take on Canberra United at Lambert Park, Leichhardt 4:30pm kick off.

Sydney FC 2 (Marco Tilio 34′, 66′) defeated Newcastle Jets 0
