Sydney FC have bowed out of the U20’s Finals Series, going down to Sutherland Sharks at Seymour Shaw on Tuesday evening.
Backing up only days after their penalty shootout win in the Elimination Final on Saturday, the Sky Blues had to shuffle their squad around to accomodate fresh legs for the encounter.
Sutherland Sharks took the lead just ten minutes into the game however, as James Temelkovski’s hot streak of form continued, putting his side in front wriggling into space on the edge of the area before tucking the ball inside the far post with only the keeper to beat.
Temelkovski was involved again as the Sharks doubled their lead early in the second half; driving down the left before cutting inside and taking a shot at goal from a narrow angle in the six yard box.
The ball looped up off the goalkeeper and dropped perfectly for Thomas Papa, who had an age to set himself for a volley which he sliced into the back of the net.
For the Sky Blues the season ends here following a gallant effort, with NPL 1 football secured for season 2020.
