Sydney FC collected their first win of the season against Adelaide United FC on Sunday afternoon, with goals from Rhys Youlley and Oriola Sunday sending supporters at Allianz Stadium into a frenzy of celebration.Â
Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo was pleased with his squad’s performance, highlighting the character of his Sky Blues being what impressed him the most.
“The boys showed a lot of character to do what they did today, and that impressed me the most,” Kisnorbo said.
“Everyone makes mistakes, it’s part of the game, but we got over the ones we made and re-adjusted things tactically.
“There were some great half chances that, whether it was a final pass or final touch, I think could’ve gone in, but the main thing was that they were there at the right time.”
With two stellar goals from Rhys Youlley and Oriola Sunday, the Sky Blues take a win under their belts as they head into their next match against Melbourne City FC on Saturday.
“I think collectively the team performed really well,” he said.
“Rhys Youlley has a good and hard shot and he was in a great position to take that shot, and I was also really impressed with Akol Akon with his timing, and Oriola Sunday with his position to score us the winning point.
“Both Youlley and Sunday work tirelessly for the team, they were where they needed to be at the right time and I’m really happy for them that they scored.
“I’m really pleased for all of the players, they work really hard, every day is hard for them, and they got their just reward today.”
The Sky Blues head to Melbourne City this weekend where they will take on the reigning Premiers at 5pm at AAMI Park.
