We’re Not Done Yet Says Arnold

Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold says his team are “not done yet” despite being on the cusp of Hyundai A-League history when they play Perth Glory tomorrow night (kick off 9:30pm AEDT).

The Sky Blues have the chance to wrap up the Premiership with a positive result and become the first team to go back to back, however Arnold dispelled any notion that the squad would down tools if they do manage to secure the Plate with games yet to play.

“We’re not done yet, we don’t want to see the Premiers Plate until the last game of the season [against Melbourne Victory], we’ve still got some targets to hit, we’ve set some new goals over the past week so as to raise our performances,” Arnold said.

“The boys are in fantastic shape, we’ll enjoy the trip to Perth and we want to close out the Premiership tomorrow night and move on to the Champions League next week,” he said.

Sydney FC will become the first team in Hyundai A-League history to retain the Premiers Plate and Arnold highlighted how the pursuit of these records motivated his squad going into the final three regular season fixtures.

“No team has ever amassed 60 points two years in a row, Melbourne City hold the record of 63 goals, we’re on 57 so we’re chasing that,” Arnold said.

“These are the targets that the players and myself want to hit. You can’t lose momentum going into the finals series so we’ll just take it one game at a time and continue to improve our performance.

“Training has been fantastic, we’ve got everyone fit, and everyone’s ready to go, we’re in great shape. It’s a little bit about freshening the boys up, we’ve had a heavy schedule of course but I feel we’ve dealt with it very well.”
