Shannon Cole says he is enjoying the attacking side of his role after his wonder goal against North Queensland Fury on Wednesday night.
“As a youngster I was an attacker and it was just before I came to Sydney when I started playing in defence and over the last couple of years I-ve learnt that role,” Cole said.
“It-s no secret that getting forward is a big part of our game and I enjoy it.”
His goal saw him take a Mark Bridge pass on his chest before looping a 25-yard volley over the keeper to give Sydney the lead.
The goal was Cole-s second belter of the season.
It follows his stunning free-kick against Melbourne in round one where he curled the ball over the Victory-s defensive wall and into the bottom corner of the net, getting the Sky Blues back to 3-3.
Cole expressed his disappointment that his goal did not lead to an elusive first win of the season for the Sky Blues but reiterated the team-s desire to earn three points.
“I had a feeling it might go in but I was just a bit shocked,” he said.
“It was one of those things where I just held my breath and thought that it could go in.
“I-ve only scored five goals so I-d definitely put that one my top five!
“It-s good to score but it-s not much of a consolation as we-re obviously desperate for a win. We-ll carry on trying as that-s all we can do and hope our luck changes in the next game.”
