U20’s seeking ultimate prize

Our U20’s side will walk out at CommBank Stadium on Saturday afternoon against Mt Druitt Town Rangers in the 2022 NPL U20’s Grand Final.

For Coach Matt Sim, he is looking to claim the ultimate prize after an impressive season with the boys which saw them finish second on the ladder with 15 wins from 22 games, scoring 64 goals in the process, the most in the competition.

Sydney FC in action against Mt Druitt previously

In their 4th week of finals, captain Hayden Matthew and the rest of the U20’s boys will be looking to replicate their efforts against Mt Druitt Town at the start of the month when they were too strong for the opposition, running out 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Oscar Gultekin, Alen Harbas, Louis Agosti and Ayouk Mow.

Sydney FC U20’s have won the last five games in a row, most recently dismantling minor premiers Blacktown City, however they will be wary of the threat that Rangers pose, being the last side to get the better of Sim’s side.

If Sydney FC are hoping to lift the major prize, their best avenue for goals is most likely to come from striker Luka Smyth who currently sits third in the goal-scoring charts behind Mt Druitt’s Mabior Garang (18) and Blacktown City’s Sunday Yona (16) on 13 goals and he will be hoping to make that 14 on Saturday.

The Sydney FC team have had the luxury of the week off following their 2-0 victory over Blacktown City at Blacktown City Sports Centre and will be hoping that the extra 30 minutes required to split City and Rangers will play to their advantage in what is set to be an intense clash.

Tickets for this clash are available from the Football NSW website and children under the age of 16 will gain entry for free.
