Sydney FC youngster Peter Triantis says he-s determined to establish himself as a regular in the Sky Blues first team line up after making his debut against the Newcastle Jets at the weekend.

The 20-year old midfielder replaced marquee signing Brett Emerton in the first half after the Socceroo took ill.

“To make my debut was a very proud moment,” said Triantis “Obviously the result wasn-t what we wanted but I-m very happy with how I went.”

“I only got told on the way out of the dressing room that Emmo wasn-t feeling too well and I could be going on in at any minute.

“It was a big surprise to me but I had to be mentally switched on to do the best that I possibly could for the team.”

Triantis hopes his appearance in the first team is the first of many and is keen to show the Sky Blues management that he is worth his place.

“I-ve just got to work hard every day in training and prove that I-m good enough to be here.

“It-s only through hard work that I-m going to break through into the team and my aim is to cement my place in the squad and try and play as many games as possible.”

Triantis is a chance to be included in the squad to face the Central Coast Mariners on Thursday night at Allianz Stadium.

The squad will train every day over the Christmas period to be ready for what will be a tough encounter against the A-League-s top side.

“Through hard work everyone wants to turn the results around,” said the young midfielder. “It should be a really big game and hopefully a really big crowd turns up.”

Sydney FC’s next home game should be a Christmas Cracker. Another derby against local rivals Central Coast Mariners over the holiday period on December 27th. Get your tickets now from Ticketek and enjoy some sizzling A-League Summer Football!!!
