Rising Sydney FC star, Kofi Danning has claimed the first prize of the new season, taking out the Solo Goal of the Week award for his strike against the North Queensland Fury in the opening round of the 2009/10 Hyundai A-League competition, last Saturday night in Townsville.

The teenager received his award on Sunday evening, following Sydney FC-s 1-nil win over Adelaide United at the SFS, which saw the Sky Blues continue their strong start to the season and maintain their share of the early competition lead.

“It was great to score in the first game and it-s a real honour to get this award,“ said the 18-year old after Sunday-s match. “We-ve had a good start to the season and I-m happy with my own form but there-s still a long way to go and as a team we want to keep improving each week.”

After overcoming Adelaide Sydney FC will now turn its attention to a round-three clash against rivals, the Central Coast Mariners. That game will be played in Gosford next Saturday afternoon.
