Tori Tumeth wants more goals

Tori Tumeth has explained that she wants her side to continue to build on their results following a 1-all draw to Melbourne Victory last week.

With eight rounds until the end of the Liberty A-League season, Sydney FC sit second on the ladder, and a win this weekend will see them three points behind ladder leaders, Melbourne City.

Despite coming second, the Sky Blues have scored the least number of goals (16) this season. However, they have conceded only 11, the lowest out of any team in the competition.

“I think we’re due for a couple of goals, but we’re working on our processes and making sure we’re sticking through what we want to do and what we want to achieve as a team, and the results will come from that.

“We are happy where we are at the moment.

“We’re still building. We’re not where we want to be at the end of the season, but I think we’re putting some really strong performances in at the moment, and we’ve got some really hard games coming up, so we’re looking to find some really good form.”

Since coming back from Uzbekistan, Sydney FC has gone undefeated in ten out of twelve games and is preparing to play fourth-placed Perth Glory and Melbourne City the week after.

Tumeth said she aims to continue the Sky Blues dominance in the A-League, as Sydney FC have featured in the last six A-League women’s Grand Finals.

“The girls over the past couple of years have been really successful, and we want to build on that success, but we’re just looking at every game as it comes and taking it week by week.

“With the extension of the season, you’ll see what teams have depth, and you’ll find their form in the back end of the season, so I think it will be really good.

“They’ve been successful in big games, and they are a big game team, so I’m excited to see how we perform in the backend of the season.”

Sydney FC will face Perth Glory at Leichhardt Oval this Saturday at 7:00pm.
