Tobin Returns As Captain

Long serving Sydney FC W-League star Natalie Tobin will return as Captain of the reigning Premiers this season, with Ante Juric’s squad looking to defend their title and win the Championship.

24-year old Tobin has been with the Sky Blues since the age of 15 and made her debut in the final minutes of the 2013 Grand Final win against Melbourne Victory.

Tobin’s initial plans to move to Perth for work have been put on hold and the young defender says she’s immensely proud to be named skipper.

“It’s a huge honour for me to named Captain of Sydney FC, the club I have represented for eight seasons now,” she said.

“We have had some unbelievable players wear the armband and I’m absolutely privileged and delighted to take it on.

“It’s a big role to fill but I’m looking forward to the challenge and I know I’ll have the support of a wonderful squad as we prepare to retain our Premiers Plate and win the Championship.”

Tobin Lifts Premiers Plate

Head Coach Ante Juric says Tobin was the natural choice following Teresa Polias’ decision to step down this season.

“We are extremely happy that Natalie is going to be rejoining the club this year as Captain,” he said.

“Her performances were outstanding last year and she is a key reason why we won the Premiers Plate.

“She is a natural leader on and off the field and I had no hesitation in awarding her the captain’s armband.”

Tobin is the first of a number of W-League signings expected in the coming weeks

with a large number of last season’s Premiership winning squad expected to return.

She has made 65 appearances in Sky Blue and scored three goals.
