Sydney FC forward Chris Naumoff is amazed by how quickly he has progressed this season and is targeting more Hyundai A-League action as the Sky Blues prepare to face Melbourne Heart on Sunday at Allianz Stadium (kick off 5pm).

After playing for Sydney FC-s Foxtel National Youth League side last year, Naumoff scored five goals in Sydney FC-s preseason to earn a first team call up.

“Time goes really fast and you just don-t know where it-s gone,” Naumoff said.

“I definitely think it-s come on quicker than expected.

“It-s a big step up. It-s a lot quicker and a lot more physical but you learn off the more experienced players which is good.”

Naumoff has made seven appearances for the Sky Blues this season, including three starts, and already has in his mind how to continue his progression.

“I just need to keep improving my game,” Naumoff said.

“I-ll keep training well and hopefully I-ll be involved in the majority of games in the A-League.”

Naumoff made his starting debut for the Sky Blues against the Heart in round six this season and believes the squad are doing well so far as they prepare for Sunday-s encounter.

“It was definitely a great experience for me in my career [starting against the Heart],” Naumoff said.

“Starting at the age of 18, having a debut like that was good and getting a win also. I think those three or four weeks have helped me improve my game as well.

“I think it-s been a great season so far. It-s been good to be involved with the first team every day, to learn off the more experienced players and get those few games under my belt.”
