Sydney FC’s men and women’s team will wear their ‘Sydney Sunset’ third kit this weekend in our first Double-Header of the season. The clubs’ salute to its iconic home city has been immortalised once more with the club’s Under Armour 2022/23 ‘Sydney Sunset’ third kit.
Sydney is known for many things, and one of them is the beautiful sunsets that can be seen from all over Sydney during the summer.
The purple and orange detailing in the third kit are a nod to these amazing sunsets that can be seen across the city as Sydney FC play their home games at the new Allianz Stadium.
The black and charcoal colour on the front of the jersey represents the transition into the night sky while the front of the jersey also retains the theme inspired by the Sydney Opera House and the pattern resembling the ceramic tiles on the roof.
The new kits are again built for the future and feature Under Armour’s best-in-class material technology.
“It’s an inspiring kit created from the amazing evening skies which we love to play under,” said Sydney FC youngster Patrick Yazbek.
“I love the design, it has the wow-factor we all feel when we step out onto the field underneath those incredible Sydney sunsets.”
Sydney FC’s Premiership winning and Sydney born Liberty A-League midfielder Sarah Hunter is equally impressed.
“It makes you proud to be representing our iconic city dressed in a jersey which reminds you of home every time you pull it on,” she said.
“Sydney has some of the more beautiful skies and sunsets on the planet and to know I am playing for the football club which represents this city fills me with great pride.”
Like the home and away kits, the third kit also features the club’s motto “WE ARE SYDNEY” on the back of the neck.
The new kit will debut this weekend when the Sydney FC’s A-League Men & Women face a double header against Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar at the new Allianz Stadium.
Launched earlier this season, Sydney FC’s home sky blue and white away jerseys have a similar sublimation of the Sydney Opera House sail.
Last year’s ‘Clasico’ home jersey also took inspiration from the blue sky above the harbour city.
The ‘Violet Night’ 2021/22 alternate kit drew it’s theming from Sydney’s night sky with a black gradient fading to midnight plum symbolising a Sydney thunderstorm and our unique coloured skies.
