Sydney FC put three goals past the second placed Gold Coast United to claim a comprehensive 3-1 victory in the National Youth League competition at Cromer Park this afternoon.
The win, the Sky Blues eighth of the 2009/10 season, sees them sit just one point outside the top four.
Goals to Adam Casey, Iain Ramsay and Kerem Bulut – his 12th of the season – makes it four consecutive games that Steve O-Connor-s men have scored three goals.
The Sky Blues took a 1-nil lead in to halftime but unlike previous weeks where not going to surrender the lead. Ramsay, who slotted two goals last match, stole the show with a 30 metre thunderbolt in the 55th minute to restore Sydney-s lead before Bulut rounded out the victory.
It looked as though it would be a dream start for Sydney FC when Bulut found the back of the net in just the 5th minute but his strike was ruled a handball.
Bulut was causing the Gold Coast defence havoc and looked the most likely to score but it was Casey who gave Sydney the lead in the 37th minute when he received the ball in open space and drove the ball low and hard below Gold Coast United keeper Jerrad Tyson.
Tyson then kept Gold Coast in the game with consecutive saves, keeping out Dimitrios Petratos and that man Bulut – Sydney ahead 1-nil at halftime.
The missed chances soon proved costly for Sydney when Gold Coast captain Chris Harold put one past Sky Blues keeper Mark Pullman, who replaced A-League keeper Ivan Necevski at the break, in the 50th minute.
Five minutes later it was Ramsay who put the Sky Blues back in front with a left foot thunderbolt.
Casey capped off a stellar game on the right side when his crisp pass found Bulut with his class handing Sydney FC-s their third goal.
Gold Cast had a late goal disallowed with Bulut continuing to wreak havoc in the dying stages.
Creative A-League midfielder Brendan Gan also played half a game.
Sydney FC-s NYL side take on the Newcastle Jets at Adamstown Oval on Saturday 23 January. Kick-off is at 5pm.
Sydney FC 3 (Casey 37-, Ramsay 55-, Bulut 77-)
Gold Coast United 1 (Harold 50-)
