Sydney FC Youth Ready For Jets Attack

Tomorrow-s National Youth League clash between Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets at Adamstown Oval looms as a crucial match for the Sky Blues in their pursuit for a finals berth.

Currently sitting outside the top four by four points, a win over the seventh placed Jets would see Steve O-Connor-s men take the first step in narrowing that gap.

The young Sky Blues head into the match full of confidence after their strong 3-1 away win over the third placed Gold Coast United last weekend. It was also the fourth straight game they have scored three goals.

“We have been scoring plenty of goals but also have conceded a few so we must tighten up at the back against Newcastle,” coach Steve O-Connor said.

“We need to build some momentum so we can get a semi finals birth so it is very important the players focus on their own jobs and processes. We need to be focused from the start.

“Games against Newcastle are always tough and it is going to be hot up there. It is almost a derby against them so you want to get the wood over them.

“The boys have to be ready from the start tomorrow and be in the right mindset because otherwise it will be very difficult.”

The sides have faced off twice already this season, both at the SFS, for one win apiece.

Sydney FC drew first blood with a 2-0 win in Round Two before the Jets squared the ledger with a 3-1 win in Round Ten.

The match commences at 5pm.
