Sydney FC v Kaya F.C.–Iloilo

Sydney FC take on Kaya F.C.–Iloilo from the Philippines in the AFC Champions League Preliminary Round with a spot in the Group Stage up for grabs.

Steve Corica’s side will be looking to atone for their 2-0 loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers in Saturday’s Sydney Derby at CommBank Stadium.

Tuesday‘s match shapes up as the perfect opportunity for Corica’s side to forget about Saturday and put in a solid showing for the home fans at Jubilee Stadium. This match now has extra significance with a spot in the group stage on the line after Chinese side Changchun Yatai withdrew from the AFC Champions League for this season. Changchun Yatai were set to play the winner of this match however this is now not the case.

Sydney FC’s opponents featured in the AFC Champions League last year and finished at the bottom of their group where they faced off against Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea, BG Pathum United of Thailand, and Viettel of Vietnam.

Team news: Unfortunately for Sydney FC and coach Steve Corica, attacker Elvis Kamsoba picked up a knock during the defeat by Western Sydney in the derby. Patrick Yazbek could feature in a limited capacity a Corica illuding to in last week’s Press Conference that he expects the midfielder to be available in the next week.

Corica spoke about making team changes for the match ahead of Tuesday’s match against Kaya.

“There’s going to be a few changes, we have another game on Friday as well and we need to freshen up the squad. There’s obviously the rule of having three foreigners in the squad and we have five so that will rule a couple out as well. We must take into consideration which players can back up on Friday against Western United.”

Corica later revealed that the two players that will miss the match will be Luciano Narsingh and Milos Ninkovic.

How to watch: The match will be available to stream live via the 10 Play app.
