Jodi Ulkekul signs for Sydney FC

Sydney FC have pulled off one of the signings of the Ninja A-League Women’s off-season, securing the signature of highly-rated American attacker Jodi Ülkekul for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The 28-year-old joins the Sky Blues from USL Super League side Spokane Zephyr FC and arrives with a glittering résumé featuring stints in the United States, Spain, and Italy, as well as time in the NWSL with OL Reign.

Known for her leadership and versatility Ülkekul is expected to be one of the most accomplished forwards to arrive in the league in recent years.

A standout at Gonzaga University, where she captained the Bulldogs and made 74 appearances, Ülkekul’s professional journey has taken her to Roma CF, CD Castellón, and a spell in the NWSL before her recent success at Spokane.

Her signing is a big coup for the Sky Blues and the Ninja A-League Women’s competition as a whole.

Speaking from the United States ahead of her move to Sydney next month, Ulkekul expressed her excitement at joining Australia’s most successful women’s football club.

Sydney FC Head Coach Ante Juric said Ülkekul’s arrival would significantly strengthen his squad.

“She’s a direct and dynamic attacker, combining strength, speed, and versatility. “Whether linking up play or making runs in behind, she brings both composure and a commanding presence on the pitch

Ülkekul will link up with her new Sky Blue teammates next month for pre-season training as Sydney FC continue their preparations for another title challenge in the Ninja A-League Women’s competition.
